Dame Clare Moulder was the first Commercial Judge to be appointed from practice as a solicitor, rather than from the Bar. After going to school in Gloucestershire and Buckinghamshire, she studied law at Clare College Cambridge. Dame Clare was a partner at Linklaters for nearly twenty-five years, specialising in banking law, capital markets transactions, and derivatives and structured finance transactions. She became a Recorder in 2010 and a Deputy High Court Judge in 2013. In 2015, Dame Clare was appointed as a Specialist Senior Circuit Judge at the Manchester Circuit Commercial Court. She was appointed as a High Court Judge in 2017. She retired from the Bench in October 2022.

Dame Clare is an accomplished horsewoman.
